Aral cidade (Aralsk ex) é separada do mar por 80 km de terra semidesértica.
Como resultado, em 1987, o encolhimento tem naturalmente dividido do mar em três partes. A parte norte como um todo estava no lado Cazaquistão. E a parte sul do Usbequistão foi dividido em dois.
